(3) That the Lee County Board of Elections is:directed to <br />hold 'and conduct `said.election.in the district: <br />(4) That the Lee County Board of Elections shalladvertise <br />and conduct said election in accordance with the provisions <br />of Article 3A, Chapter 69, N. C. General Statutes; and <br />with the procedures prescribed in Chapter 163, N. C. General. <br />Statutes, governing the conduct of special and general election's: <br />Commissioner John E.Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr: T. W. McDonald,` Chairman of th'e' Board of Elections advised <br />the Board that he would be, leaving his position and that he had enjoyed his service. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer' moved the, adoption of the following resolution:_ <br />WHEREAS,' T. W. Mc'DONALD has served <br />as Chairman -of,the Lee County. Board of Elections from` <br />1974 to 1977 <br />and'. <br />WHEREAS, T.• W. McDONALD has served <br />on, the Board of'Elections from' 1936' <br />to 1977 ; and' <br />WHEREAS,. T. W. M6DONALD has given <br />of his. time and talents* to see that the election-process in <br />Lee County, has .operated lawfully and: efficiently; and <br />WHEREAS, his efforts have contributed to <br />the confidence and trust that the.people of Lee County have <br />in the election' process; ' <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br />BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br />(1) That it expresses to Mr'.' T. W. McDonald its sincere <br />appreciation for his many years of service to'the people of, <br />Lee County, as a member and Chairman of its Board of <br />Elections, <br />(2) That it extends t6"him its'.good wishes, upon his retirement: <br />from public service: . <br />(3)- That a.cppy of- thisResolution be :furnished to Mr. T: W. <br />McDonald. <br />~ ^ tat 4C tm=" <br />Commissioner GordonA~Wicker seconded the motion-and upon; <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />CommissionerJohn.E. Dotterer moved that the sum-of $17, 000.00 <br />be' appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund-to-the <br />Ambulance Fund for' the purchase of anew' ambulance; ;provided that the funds re- <br />ceived in reimbursement from the Governor's Highway Safety Fund- be returned to <br />the unappropriated-surplus-in the.G'eneral Fund. Commissioner Gordon A. <br />.Wicker seconded the,motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Dotterer, Rhyne, <br />Franklin•Wicker,; and Gordon Wicker all voted for it,'and no one voted against it. <br />
