Commissioner Franklin D."Wicker moved <br />that the public hearing 'be closed:' Commissioner Rhyne 'seconded th-e motion and'. <br />upon a vote, it was unanimously`adoptedj;and the public hearing'.declared closed;:, <br />The, Board then discussed the budget message presented by the Finance <br />..Officer and after extensive discussion and review, Commissioner'Dotterer moved <br />the adoption of the budget prepared by the)Finance Officer and amended, by the,Board,. <br />which provided for a•tax rate of $l. 02 per hundred. Commissioner Rhyne seconded <br />the motion. Commissioner Dotterer then moved that the budget.be arnended•in such <br />fashion to authorize the use by the County Board of Education of the. $60,1000, 00 <br />previously'. furnished by the`Board•as an addition to its working fund and that.the <br />assessed valuation of property be amended to show an increase from 350'. million <br />to 355 million so as to provide an additional $30 000.90 for the school current <br />expense budget. Commissioner Rhyne seconded that motion. Commissioner Dotterer <br />then moved a second amendment. to allow for the transfer within the Social Services <br />budget of the sum of.$3,.000.00 to the item for salaries to.-provide for step increases <br />and promotions based upon merit. ' Commissioner Rhyne seconded that motion and <br />there being,no.further amendments, the Chair announced that the Board would vote <br />on the secjnd amendment first, then the first amendment and then.upon'the base <br />motion. -.The vote upon, the second: amendment concerningJhe Social Services fund <br />was adopted upon a roll call vote.wherein Commissioners D'otterer,'Rhyne, Frank <br />Wicker and Cooper-voted for it and. Commissioner Gordon-A. Wicker voted against <br />it. The first amendment relating .to providing radditional funds for the school was <br />adopted upon a roll; call vote, wherein Commissioners Dotterer; Rhyne; Frank <br />Wicker; GV.erdon Wicker and Cooper all K'Sted'for it and no-one voted against it. The <br />adoption of the budget a,s "so amended, was.then adopted upon a roll call vote, <br />wherein Commissioners Dotterer,';R'hyne,.Frank .Wicker and Cooper voted for'iti ' <br />and Commissioner Gordo n'A.
