Mate Champs "OkO Luc wins 1st ULU U fift on Ye ars <br />By ALEX PODLOGAR <br />alexp@sanfordherald com <br />ERWIN-After the celebrating and <br />trophy presentation, Lee County 10-and-un- <br />d~-Stars coach Scott Grant got the team <br />t er and tried to give the youngsters an <br />idea of what they had just accomplished. <br />"We talked about it after the game," said <br />Grant, whose team thumped Rocky Mount <br />10-0 on Sunday to claim tire LitfleTar Heel <br />League 10-1J state championship. "It's been <br />`20 years since Lee County has won a state <br />championship in this age group, and the kids <br />were able to reflect on that toy a while. It's a <br />big accomplishment." <br />And, in the end, it came with relative ease. <br />The youngest team at tunes Wallace High <br />i <br />t,,:` << G r <br />'I'oumanent took the experience gained in <br />two games there and romped through the <br />state Low t ament, outscoring its opponents <br />by a combined score of 52-10 in four games. <br />"It was a total team effort, from the first <br />game to tie last," Grant said.
