•
OG5
North Carolina Department of Correction
Beverly Eaves Perdue
Governor
Alvin W. Keller
Secretary
July 7, 2009
Mr. Howard Surface, Lee County Health Director
Lee County Health Department
P. O. Box 1528
Sanford, N.C. 27331
Re: Renewal contract for inmate labor between the Lee County Animal Shelter and
the North Carolina Department of Correction
Attached for your review and approval is the proposed labor contract between
® Sanford Correctional Center and the Lee County Animal Shelter. The inmate
Labor Contract was revised this year (2009) and now includes a clause which
prohibits inmates from working on school property, e.g., private or public
elementary, middle or high schools, while students are on the property. No sex
offender inmate will be assigned or allowed to work on the property of any
educational facility, e.g., private or public elementary, middle, high school,
community college or university, etc. This revision is noted on Page 2, Part I
(Logistics), Section F., of the labor contract. It should be noted that this is the
only change to the previous contract that was signed by your office on April 6,
2009. There is no change in the contract amount. Our current contract expired
June 30, 2009 and it is our recommendation that the contract be renewed for the
period of July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. We look forward to working with
Carl Iceman, Animal Services Supervisor and his staff.
Sincerely,
a F; erogram Director I
Sanford Correctional Center
0
