C. <br />Information <br />Meeting Date: June 1, 2009 -Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />0 <br />SUBJECT: Renewal Contract for Inmate Labor <br />DEPARTMENT: Health Department <br />CONTACT PERSON: Howard Surface, Health Director <br />REQUEST: To continue contract with the North Carolina Department of <br />Corrections for inmate labor at the Lee County Animal Shelter <br />SUMMARY: The Lee County Health Department would like to continue receiving <br />the services of inmates from the Sanford Correctional Center for the <br />next fiscal year. If approved, two inmates will work for $1.00/day <br />and will be supervised by the Animal Shelter Attendant. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: Local funds are impacted at the rate of $520.00 (maximum) for the <br />next fiscal year. Monies are budgeted in the FY 2009-10 budget. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): (1) Letter from Van Frizzelle, Sanford Correctional Center <br />(2) Contract Agreement <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: The Board approved, at their April 16, 2009 meeting, a contract for <br />inmate labor services as a trial effort. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve contract as presented. <br />r <br />f <br />
