G 0 8
0 LEE COUNTY
e. .e
Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow
April 20, 2009
Memorandum
To: Board of County Commissioners
Lee County
From: BI ja offs
Subject: Filling Position
We have a resignation from one of two front desk positions. With this resignation it will be vital that
we fill the position with a bilingual individual as soon as possible.
The duties of these front desk positions are reception and phone operator. The two positions require
an extremely high degree of public contact, greeting all people who come into the agency, determining
their needs, logging them in, assigning them to which worker or workers they should see and notifying
the worker. In addition these two positions handle all the phone calls that come through the
switchboard and handle, scan and record all information left at the front desk for staf'. This position
must provide general information about our agency programs and community resources. Therefore,
the employee must also be knowledgeable of community resources in order to refer the clients to other
available programs through other city/county programs. This is a key position in the agency. The
receptionist, setting the entire mood for dealing with the client, can determine a client's whole
perspective of the agency.
Register logs are kept on all incoming clients and policy requires that every individual be read their
rights as applicants. This person greets and logs in all clients coming into Social Services to conduct
any type of business.
Attached you will find some statistical information during the last few months to give you an ides of
the traffic that these positions handled each day. We respectfully request your consideration in the
matter of filling this vacancy in our organization. If you require additional information, please advise.
cc: File
DEPARTMENTOF SOCIAL SERVICES
• 530 Carthage Street • P.O.
