Lee Headquarters Flag
on Sunday, May 10 at the Lee County Courthouse
Dear Sirs:
The Robert E. Lee Historical Society has been granted permission from the Lee County Board of
Commissioners for the past seventeen years to fly the Robert E. Lee Headquarters Flag at the Lee
County Courthouse on Confederate Memorial Day, which is observed annually on May 10th in
North Carolina. As you know, Lee County was named for Robert E. Lee when the County was
formed in 1907.
The Robert E. Lee Society once again is requesting permission to fly General Lee's flag on May
10th, which falls on a Sunday this year. If permission is granted, we will be responsible for raising
and removing the flag on that date.
A photo of the Lee Headquarters Flag is shown below, for your information.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at 919-774-9442 (work)
or (919) 776-9354 (home).
Thank you for you consideration,
David G. Spivey, representing the Robert E
Lee Society.
0
2 3 2009
The Gen. Robert E. Lee Headquarters Flag MAR
