C. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: April 6, 2009 -Action Item. <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Inmate Services Contract <br />DEPARTMENT: Public Health <br />CONTACT PERSON: Howard Surface, Health Director <br />REQUEST: Inmate Services Contract to Assist at the Lee County Animal <br />Shelter. <br />SUMMARY: The Health Department would like to make a trial effort to work with <br />two inmates at the Animal Shelter to assist with cleaning purposes. This would allow current staff <br />to spend more time in the field. If approved, the contract would become effective May 1, 2009, <br />and run through June 30, 2009. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle has reviewed the contract. <br />The Board of Health approved the contract at their March 2009 meeting. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: Local funds are impacted at the rate of $1.00 per day for each <br />inmate, $84.00 is anticipated to be spent between May 1, 2009 and June 30, 2009. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): N.C. Department of Correction Inmate Labor Contract <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve contract between the Lee County Health Department and <br />the N.C.
