E. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: March 16, 2009 XX Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />s <br />SUBJECT: North Carolina Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement <br />DEPARTMENT: Office of Emergency Management <br />CONTACT PERSON: Eric Griffin, Emergency Management Director 919-718-4670 <br />REQUEST: Re-authorize the County's Participation in the North Carolina <br />Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement <br />SUMMARY: The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and the <br />North Carolina League of Municipalities joined with the Governor of <br />North Carolina, Jim Hunt, after Hurricane Fran in 1996 to develop a <br />mechanism for jurisdictions to receive and provide mutual aid <br />assistance via a standard agreement. This voluntary mutual aid <br />agreement sets forth a series of standards for requesting, sending, <br />receiving, and providing reimbursement for mutual aid assistance. <br />The last time this compact was updated and approved by the <br />County was November 2002.
