IL G. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: March 16, 2009 -Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />• <br />SUBJECT: Emergency Management Performance Grant Application for FY 2009 <br />DEPARTMENT: Emergency Management <br />CONTACT PERSON: Eric Griffin - 919-718-4670 <br />REQUEST: Authorize Submission of Annual Emergency Management <br />Performance Grant Application for FY 2009 <br />SUMMARY: In accordance with the 2008-2009 Department of Homeland Security <br />Appropriations Bill (P1109-295) which appropriated $315 million nationally to the Emergency <br />Management Performance Grant (EMPG) program, each local entity is required to submit an <br />application to the State Administrative Agency (SAA) to receive funding. For North Carolina, the <br />SAA is through the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management. Emergency Management <br />estimates that Lee County will receive approximately $24,000 once the application process is <br />completed and that estimate will be included in the FY 2009-2010 budget revenue line item. Based <br />on historical precedent, funds should arrive around October 2009. This is an annual grant program <br />and Lee County has been a participant each year at least since 2004. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: None - 50% match requirement is provided by in-kind contributions. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Application <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: EMPG application most recently approved by BOCC May 19, 2009, <br />and each year prior <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize submission of grant application and authorize the County <br />Manager, Finance Director, and Emergency Management Director to sign required documents <br />
