A. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: February 16, 2009 XX Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Board of Equalization and Review <br />DEPARTMENT: Tax Administration <br />CONTACT PERSON: Dwane Brinson <br />REQUEST: Update Appointments for the Board of E & R <br />SUMMARY: The Lee County Board of Commissioners has adopted a resolution <br />• establishing a separate Board of Equalization & Review. The Board of Commissioners has, <br />therefore, delegated certain powers per NCGS 105 - 322. There are two regular members of the <br />Board of E & R that are unable to continue serving: Mr. Jack McNeill and Mr. Johnny Mack Burns. <br />Mr. Jack McNeill's term expires February 2010. Mr. Johnny Mack Burns' appointment has <br />currently expired. One alternate member, Herman Morris, is up for reappointment. Another <br />alternate member, Roy Utley, is no longer able to serve. In total there are two regular member <br />seats and two alternate member seats up for reappointment. <br />Once appointments are revisited, I will amend the resolution and present to the Board of <br />Commissioners for approval. <br />Two applications have been received so far from interested citizens wishing to serve on the <br />Board. <br />BUDGETIMPACT: NA <br />ATTACHMENT(S) (1) Resolution Establishing Board of E & R, <br />(2) Board of E & R Appointments. <br />(3) Board of E & R Snapshot <br />(4) Applications from Cindy Ammons and Manly "Drew" Lucas <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Revisit appointments as deemed appropriate by the Board of <br />Commissioners. Allow Tax Administrator to update current <br />resolution to reflect status of appointees. <br />• <br />
