H. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: February 2, 2009 _ Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT Budget Amendment #02/02/09/#19 <br />DEPARTMENT: Finance <br />CONTACT PERSON: Lisa G. Minter, Finance Director <br />REQUEST: Approval of Budget Amendment #02/02/09/#19 <br />SUMMARY: Budget Amendment #02102/09/19 appropriates funds for the following <br />departments: Health - WIC - Due to case load increase the federal government has increased their <br />allocation to the County by $14,841. Funds will be used to cover travel, conferences, office supplies and <br />medical/educationat supplies. There are no county dollars allocated to the WIC program. <br />Health - General Admin. - The department is receiving $8,532 in Random Moment in Time Study revenue <br />from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services through the State The funds will be used to cover <br />professional services (mold clean up), EDP supplies, conferences, travel and maintenance to equipment. <br />Health - Family Planning - The Health Department has received $13,240 through a Special Initiative Grant <br />from the Office of Population Affairs to increase Family Planning clients through expanded community <br />outreach. Funds will be used for advertising, professional services and printing. <br />Health - Health Education - The Health Department has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Kate B. <br />Reynolds Trust. The grant will be awarded over three years ($10,000 per year). The funds will be used to hire <br />an independent contractor to serve as the Lee-Can Coordinator. <br />Social Services - Social Services has received an additional $66,432 allocation of Crisis Intervention Funds. <br />These funds are used to provide assistance to families that are in a heating or cooling related crisis. There is <br />no county match to these funds. <br />Library - The Library has received a Bill & Melina Gates Foundation "Opportunity Online Hardware Grant <br />Program" allocation of $15,600 to purchase eight public computers, printers, routers, software, etc. for the <br />Broadway and Jonesboro libraries.
