D. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: February 2, 2009 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: 2009 Community Waste Reduction and Recycling Grants <br />DEPARTMENT: General Services - Solid Waste Division <br />CONTACT PERSON: Joseph Cherry, Solid Waste Superintendent <br />REQUEST: Authorization to submit an application for funds under the 2009 <br />Community Waste Reduction and Recycling Grants as offered by <br />the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, <br />Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance. <br />SUMMARY: Funds requested in the grant application will be used to upgrade the <br />current interoffice recycling programs. These upgrades will iesuit in <br />greater program efficiency as well as an increase in waste diversion. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: Lee County will be responsible for a cash match equivalent to 20% <br />(maximum $5,000.00) of the requested amount.
