UO3 <br />A doggy day is planned for September 7 at O.T. Sloan Park, with events <br />for the public to bring their dogs to, such as retrieving from the pool. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Youth Team Tennis Program <br />Mr. Payne said Nickelodeon and youthtennis.com are promoting <br />September as tennis play dates. Mary Tatum, retired Lee Co. coach, would <br />like to take charge on a volunteer basis and have a free play day /clinic at <br />O.T. Sloan Tennis Shelter on September 14 th . <br />B. LCPRC membership <br />Spotty attendance was discussed, with one member that has never attended <br />the meetings. Chairman Mark Kline spoke of replacing member Rhea <br />Monti, move Cameron Sharpe to a permanent position and looking for two <br />alternates. Members spoke of the need for ex- officio members, such as <br />Councilman Poly Cohen and Commissioners Ricky Frazier and Kirk <br />Smith, to be able to vote at Parks & Recreation meetings. <br />At 5:50pm Harry Stryffeler made a motion to present to the Board <br />of Commissioners a recommendation to remove Rhea Monti from the <br />Parks & Recreation board for non - attendance and replace her with first <br />alternate, Cameron Sharpe. Motion was seconded by James Emerson, all <br />were in favor. <br />A second motion was made immediately after, by Mr. Stryffeler to <br />change by -laws that ex- officio Parks & Recreation Board members would <br />have full voting privileges. Motion was seconded by Mark Kline, all were <br />in favor. <br />A third motion was made at 5:54pm by Mr. Stryffeler that an ex- <br />officio school board member be added to the Parks & Recreation Board. <br />Motion was seconded by Mark Kline, all were in agreement. Members <br />discussed the favorable influence adding someone from the school board <br />would have with them, as the city, county and schools would be <br />represented with the Parks and Recreation Board. <br />All motions will be presented to the Board of Commissioners at a later <br />date. <br />V. COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />None <br />VI. DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />Mr. Payne took part in Christian Provisions Health Fair held Saturday, July <br />20, 2013 and presented different Parks & Recreation programs to the youth <br />and parents. <br />The activity report from June showed some of the influence the heavy rains <br />had during the month, but it was still very busy. Three travel team <br />tournaments were scheduled for the month of June. <br />
