034 <br />LEE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION MEETING <br />MONDAY, JULY 22, 2013 <br />MINUTES <br />The Lee County Parks and Recreation Commission met Monday, July 22, 2013, at <br />5:30 p.m. in the Commissioner's Room at the Lee County Government Center. <br />Members present were Chairman Mark Kline, Harry Stryffeler, James Emerson, Ed <br />Underwood, Councilman Poly Cohen, and Cameron Sharpe. <br />Also present were John Payne, Parks and Recreation Director and Deborah Carroll, <br />Secretary. <br />Absent members were Nicole Ingram, Rhea Monti, Eric Davidson, and Commissioner <br />Ricky Frazier. <br />I. CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Meeting called to order at 5:32pm and motion for approval by Mark Kline, <br />seconded by Ed Underwood, with approval by all. <br />II. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mr. Payne introduced Cameron Sharpe to the Board, and members to Mr. <br />Sharpe. <br />III. OLD BUSINESS <br />A. Horton Park Plans Update <br />Most playground equipment has been installed except for one piece, which <br />will be installed in October. Two handicap spaces will be framed out for <br />parking and a fence installed around the basketball court to keep the ball <br />within the court. <br />Eagle Scout candidate, Michael Crumpton, John Crumpton's son, is <br />planning a project replacing the roofs on the dugouts. <br />Mr. Payne will be pricing materials for a walking path, which may be <br />installed inside the fence to be used as a warning track and walking trail. <br />B. Dog Park Project Update <br />The Board of Commissioners agreed with moving the location of the dog <br />park to O.T. Sloan Park but not to fund the project. Preliminary cost <br />estimates are $25,000, with $5000 in donations collected. <br />
