WHEREAS, THE COUNTY OF LEE.intends'to make certain improvements at the-Sanford-Le e'County Airport, arid. WHEREAS, THE COUNTY.OF LEE intends to request financial assistance from the United States Department of Transportation through the Federal Aviation Administration, and WHEREAS, THE'COUNTY OF LEE desires 'to assure that the-improvements made thereby will be maintained and protected in a manner such that operation at the Sanford-Le'e`County Airport will'not'be endangered.. .;NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE -LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. . That: Lee Countyintends to take .action that it deems necessary to exercise the proper controls. of the Sanford-Lee County Airport, and 2. That Lee County intends to utilize the necessary con- , trols that it is 'legally empowered to take,` such as land use enforcement and zoning, to safeguard life and prop'er'ty in and about the Sanford-Lee County Airport: Commissioner Rhyne-seconded,'the motion and`upon a`vote it was unanimously adopted. 'The Board next considered the, assurances required by the Federal Government with respect to relocation and-real property acquisition in connection- with the development project at,the Airport 'In discus sion,withMr., Pate, it was disclosed that the project as presently designed did provide-for the acquisition of :real estate but did` not have any program of relocation in it. Commissioner Rhyne .moved that the Chairman be, authorized to execute the certificate of assurances. Commissioner Dotterer seconded the'motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted:' Mr. Garland Fulton and Mrs. Harold Mackey, appeared before the Board on behalf of the, Board of Trustees of the Lee County Hospital, Inc., to discuss 'the lease between the County and the Lee County -Hospital,.Inc. 'Mr., Fulton stated it was the intention of''the Board of.Trustees to extend the lease. After -discussion,. Commissioner Dotterer moved that a public hearing be held on the matter on September 16th. There was no second to the motion and the Chairman ruled the motion died for lack of a second and the Chairman appointed a. committee composed of Commissioner Rhyne,. as Chairman, and Commissioners Dotterer and Gordon A. Wickeri as members.to study'the lease and to report to the full Board on September 6th, its recommendations.
