NOW,,THEREFORE,YBE IT RESOLVED, and{th'e Board of County Commissioners hereby approved,and request that the .State Highway Commission make; the following improvements' in the above described area:` Pull up'and'maintain. Commissioner'.Clyde,J. Rhyne seconded the-motion'and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that he had made an inspection, tour with highway representatives and the reason the roads in the Van Croce Subdivision had not been taken over by the State is that they did not meet the minimum requirements. Chairman.Cooper reported that the EDA had,given permission for the scouts to build a chapel at the Lee Education 'and Recreation.park. Commissioner *Gordon A. Wicker reported on the meeting of the District Health Department. ' Commissioner John E. Dotterer'joined the meeting during Comm- issioner.Gordon A. Wicker's report and participated in the further deliberations of the Board.: Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported on his investigation of'the possibility of securing additional fees for housing state, prisoners. His recommend- ation was;that the Board' execute the present agreement and if there is any modifi. cation of the agreement,. Lee County will share in such modification on the same basis as the other counties. Mr. Brewer, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, was author- ized to purchase a supply of toilet bowls for repairs. at the'jail. Mr.,'David E. Reynolds of the Triangle, .J Council of Government, appeared before the Board and requested Lee County to participate in the study of 'the Individual Non-Urban WasteWater Treatment management and alternatives to f develope a;plan for.the effective control of individual waste control systems. Commissioner Franklin D.. Wicker joined the meeting during Mr. Reynolds,report and participated in the further, deliberations of the Board. Following Mr. Reynolds'' report and discussion of it by the Board, Commissioner, Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS.. Region J recognizes the impact that septi'c'tank failures have on the water quality and public health of the area; and ;WHEREAS, grant funds are available from the Environ- mental Protection Agency to prepare a plan to develop effective control systems, for individual waste disposal,. including septic tanks; and WHEREAS,' such a plan and planning process is necessary to control septic tanks and the problems they cause; NOW, THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED THAT LEE COUNTY, recognizing the problem septic tank failures cause, supports the'application of the Triangle J. COG for the aforementioned grant monies from the Environmental Protection Agency; and 'At r si
