Rhyne seconded the-motion'and upon a vote, <br />it was unanimously adopted, <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported that he had made an <br />inspection, tour with highway representatives and the reason the roads in the <br />Van Croce Subdivision had not been taken over by the State is that they did not <br />meet the minimum requirements. <br />Chairman.Cooper reported that the EDA had,given permission for <br />the scouts to build a chapel at the Lee Education 'and Recreation.park. <br />Commissioner *Gordon A. Wicker reported on the meeting of the <br />District Health Department. ' <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer'joined the meeting during Comm- <br />issioner.Gordon A. Wicker's report and participated in the further deliberations of <br />the Board.: <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported on his investigation of'the <br />possibility of securing additional fees for housing state, prisoners. His recommend- <br />ation was;that the Board' execute the present agreement and if there is any modifi. <br />cation of the agreement,. Lee County will share in such modification on the same <br />basis as the other counties. <br />Mr. Brewer, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, was author- <br />ized to purchase a supply of toilet bowls for repairs. at the'jail. <br />Mr.,'David E. Reynolds of the Triangle, .J Council of Government, <br />appeared before the Board and requested Lee County to participate in the study of <br />'the Individual Non-Urban WasteWater Treatment management and alternatives to <br />f develope a;plan for.the effective control of individual waste control systems. <br />Commissioner Franklin D.. Wicker joined the meeting during Mr. <br />Reynolds,report and participated in the further, deliberations of the Board. <br />Following Mr. Reynolds'' report and discussion of it by the Board, <br />Commissioner, Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS.. Region J recognizes the impact that <br />septi'c'tank failures have on the water quality and public health of the <br />area; and <br />;WHEREAS, grant funds are available from the Environ- <br />mental Protection Agency to prepare a plan to develop effective control <br />systems, for individual waste disposal,. including septic tanks; and <br />WHEREAS,' such a plan and planning process is necessary <br />to control septic tanks and the problems they cause; <br />NOW, THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED THAT LEE COUNTY, <br />recognizing the problem septic tank failures cause, supports the'application <br />of the Triangle J. COG for the aforementioned grant monies from the <br />Environmental Protection Agency; and <br />'At <br />r si <br />
