eoax 9 PAct 21 <br />There was a discussion concerning erection of a canopy over the <br />gasoline pumps adjoining the Maintenance Building, but no formal action was taken. <br />It was reported to the Board that the necessary field work had been <br />accomplished for the Superintendent of County Buildings to make the necessary sewer <br />connections to the County Courthouse. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker brought up for consideration, <br />the appointment of a representative to the Johnston-Lee Community Action Program. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that Mr. Robert Stone be appointed to the <br />Board of the Johnston-Lee Community Action Program to fill the vacancy. Comm- <br />issioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Board designated Mr. Elwin Buchanan and Mr. Jon Moore to <br />attend the Statewide Conference on Planning Community Based Programs for <br />Status Offenders to be held in Greensboro on December 8th and 9th. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the sum of $100.00 be <br />appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Sheriff's Department <br />Fund to establish a petty cash fund. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the <br />motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Rhyne, Franklin D. Wicker and <br />Gordon A.. Wicker and Cooper, all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Chairman called the members attention to the meeting of the Con- <br />sumer's Council of North Carolina, which was to be a conference on southern wages. <br />The Chairman announced to the Board that the Extension Service was <br />sponsoring a work shop meeting in Fayetteville on Non-Metropolitan Communities <br />on November 15th and 16th. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker reported on the dedication ceremonies <br />which were held for the new Junior High Schools. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported on meetings concerning the <br />Economic Development Study. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan reported to the Board on the status of the <br />Community Development Projects. <br />The Board authorized Mr. Elwin Buchanan to attend a meeting in <br />Atlanta on the newly amended Community Development law. <br />Chairman Cooper stated that the reports he had received indicated <br />that Commissioner John E. Dotterer's recent surgery was successful and that he <br />was progressing nicely in his recovery. <br />Chairman Cooper stated that he was advised that Mr. Lacy Hilliard, <br />a long time employee of the County's Maintenance Department, had had a lung re- <br />moved and that he was also recovering nicely. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it was <br />adjourned, sine die. <br />NORTH CAROLINA, LEE COUNTY <br />anted for registration on the.;.~._J& <br />recorded in Book .......Nas°._~.-..... <br />Pattie W.
