® BOUN 9 PMf J <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan reported that the work on the Overall Economic <br />Development Plan (OEDP)was progressing according to schedule and the final <br />meeting of the group was scheduled for Tuesday, November 22, 1977. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that the $26, 000 received in <br />anti-recession funds be used to maintain the present level of services in the <br />Sheriff's Department. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported that several lots had been <br />offered to the County in satisfaction of the outstanding tax liens. Commissioner <br />Rhyne said he would have the proposals checked out and would report to the Board <br />his findings. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker asked what arrangements he should <br />make concerning Christmas baskets for the County employees. The Board decided <br />to give baskets comparable to those given last year and authorized Commissioner <br />Wicker to make the appropriate arrangements. <br />The question of what holiday schedule is to be observed by the <br />County employees between now and the first of the year was asked of the Board <br />by the Chairman. It was decided to follow the same schedule as that set for State <br />employees. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker advised the Board that the County <br />buildings on Evergreen Lane needed treatment for termite infestation and he was <br />authorized to have the Maintenance Department to secure bids for such service with <br />the charges to come from the appropriation for the Maintenance Department. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported the 208 Waste Water <br />Disposal report prepared by the Triangle J COG Staff had been received and would <br />be delivered to Mr. Jon Moore for study. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported he had investigated the <br />canopy bids and found it would be in keeping with the County Maintenance building <br />and would make for easier maintenance to purchase the model with baked enamel. <br />The bids for this model were as follows: <br />CCS, Inc. $ 2, 880..00 <br />Fulton Associates 3,931.22 <br />Southern Pump and Tank Co. 3,231.50 <br />►1 <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the low bid of CCS, <br />Inc., be accepted and the purchase be charged to the Maintenance Department <br />budget. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that bids be taken to purchase <br />three cars for the Sheriff's Department. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />A letter from The Northwestern Bank outlining a proposal to lease <br />the former Steele Street Methodist Church lot to the City of Sanford, was read to <br />the Board. <br />The County attorney advised the Board of a proposed ordinance con- <br />cerning regulation of the insulation business. <br />The Board was advised that the Chairman had been requested to <br />appoint a person to serve on a Title XX Area Planning Advisory Committee. <br />Chairman Cooper asked the members of the Board to give him their recommendations <br />at their earliest opportunity. _ <br />f <br />i <br />
