780 <br />WHEREAS, while a medical staff of 32 physicians could <br />support a 168 bed hospital, it has been concluded that the <br />total acute bed need of the hospital in 1979 is 137 beds based <br />upon service population and use rates and while this is fewer <br />than the present licensed total of 142 beds, the present <br />configuration of the inpatient units is inefficient and the <br />present facility contains 51 non-conforming beds and a signifi- <br />cantly higher utilization rate could be achieved if private rooms <br />are provided for most or all of the needed beds; and <br />WHEREAS, the BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF LEE COUNTY HOSPITAL, INC., <br />have concluded that the full utilization of the existing hospital <br />site within economic practicality would be extremely difficult <br />because of the restrictions due to terrain and that due to the <br />age of the facility and configuration of the structure that <br />newer concepts of hospital design facility cannot be adapted for <br />use; and <br />WHEREAS, the BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF LEE COUNTY HOSPITAL, INC., <br />have concluded that <br />building on a new s <br />acute care beds and <br />supporting services <br />for future hospital <br />staff needs: and <br />the best alternative is a new hospital <br />Lte to provide a facility which contains 137 <br />5 mental health beds with an ancillary and <br />base of 168 beds to provide the flexibilty <br />expansion to accommodate potential medical <br />WHEREAS, the study provided by the Board of Trustees' <br />consultants indicate that the estimated cost of such structure <br />would be $12,300,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, the BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF LEE COUNTY HOSPITAL, INC., <br />hereby undertake to operate the current hospital facility and, <br />
