EGO 9
Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker read the following statement:
I move the adoption of a resolution opposing the
continuing decrease of State Participation in administration
costs in the Social Services Department.
The state participation in administration is decreasing
by 39/o per year and counties cannot continue to bear the burden
of these additional costs.
I move that Lee County provide a copy of this resolution
to the Governor, Senator, Representatives, and the North
Carolina Association of County Commissioners.
Lee County has lost 8 million in valuation this year
due to industries closing and moving from Lee County and from
the "older people" exemption enacted by the State.
With all budget requests up and some very large
requests, we must begin to oppose the State putting more
burden on the local taypayer.
Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motionand upon a vote it was
unanimously adopted.
Commissioner Dotterer moved that the meeting be adjourned until
Friday, May 12th, 1978, at N o;clock p. m., to re-convene in the Commissioners
Room at the County Office Building on that date and at that time. Commissioner
Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously
adopted. The meeting adjourned in keeping with the resolution.
/t
CLER
NORTH CAROLINA, LEE COUNT~~Y/Y/
Presented for registration on the_/.~..
of 14,..1919, at
recorded in Book...-.. .9....... page
`..0.1....
Pattie W.
