The Sanford Tobacco Board of Trade asked that the County assist <br />in promoting the tobacco industry in Lee County. Commissioner Franklin D. <br />Wicker moved that the County appropriate $100. 00 from its revenue derived from <br />non-tax sources to be expended in advertising promoting the tobacco industry in <br />Lee County. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Rhyne moved that the County Agencies be authorized <br />to destroy old filesland materials in accordance with schedules prepared by the <br />Archives and History. . The schedule of materials to be destroyed is attached <br />hereto and by this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />'The Board was reminded that the Department of Transportation would <br />hold a meeting in Southern Pines at 2 o'clock p, m., on June 28, 1978, to discuss <br />road matters in this area. <br />The Exodus House, Inc., requested that CETA Personnel be made <br />available as cooks and assistant managers to assist in their program. They asked <br />that this proposal be considered as a part of their Budget Request. <br />The contract with John C. Muse & Company for accounting services <br />was presented to the Board. Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, duly seconded <br />by Commissioner Rhyne, it was unanimously resolved to authorize the Chairman <br />to execute said contract for and on behalf of the County. <br />The Lee County Board of Education submitted the Budget Amendment <br />request that the Capital Outlay Fund be amended by increasing the amount for <br />Equipment Category II by the amount of $1, 000. 00, which money had been received <br />from the sale of an activity bus. The School Board's intention was to use $800. 00 <br />of this money in the food service operation as matching money for equipment and <br />the balance would be used for instructional equipment. The transfer and change in <br />the school budget as indicated above was approved upon motion of Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, which motion <br />was adapted upon a roll call vote, wherein Messrs. Dotterer, Rhyne, Franklin D. <br />Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker and Cooper voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that Chairman William <br />H. Cooper be authorized to sign a commitment of non-federal matching support for <br />the Council on Aging. Commissioner Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Commission was reminded that Congressman Charles Whitley's <br />Mobile Office would visit in Lee County on Tuesday, May 23rd, 1978. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that permission be given <br />for the transfer of $400.00 from the line item "Day Care" to the line item "General <br />Assistance" in the current department of Social Services Budget. Commissioner <br />Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Dotterer, Rhyne, <br />Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker and Cooper all voted for it and no one <br />voted against it. <br />There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was <br />adjourned. <br />
