It shall not be permitted to build campfires anywhere <br />within the park other than in fireplaces, grills, and <br />campstoves within established campgrounds and picnic <br />areas. Wilderness campers are encouraged to use <br />packstoves in place of wood fires. <br />8. It shall not be permitted to leave campfires unattended <br />for any length of time unless they are "dead" out. <br />9. It shall not be permitted to gather or cut green wood of <br />any kind for campfires or other purposes anywhere within <br />the park. Standing or fallen dead wood may be gathered <br />for use in campfires, but campers are encouraged, and may <br />find the need, to purchase firewood stockpiled within the <br />campgrounds. Campers are encouraged at all times to <br />utilize an alternative means of fire building, e.g., <br />charcoal, campstoves, etc. <br />K. PETS <br />Pets must be on a leash or otherwise physically restrained <br />by the owner at all times. This is necessary for the <br />protection of plant and animal life. Dogs or other pets <br />(except seeing-eye dogs) are not allowed on trails, in <br />boats or in public buildings at any time. Excessive pet <br />noise will be cause for expulsion from the park at the <br />discretion of the park rangers on duty. (Please do not <br />leave pets inside closed automobiles during warm weather... <br />owners shall be cited.) <br />L. MISCELLANEOUS <br />It shall not be permitted to pollute the park's streams <br />and lakes. <br />2. It shall not be permitted to throw rocks or objects of <br />any kind (except for sporting or athletic equipment in <br />designated areas) while in the park. <br />SECTION II. VIOLATION, A MISDEMEANOR. <br />Violation of this Ordinance is punishable by a fine of not <br />more than $50.00 or imprisonment for not more than thirty days. <br />SECTION III. INJUNCTIVE RELIEF AVAILABLE. <br />This Ordinance may be enforced by any appropriate remedy <br />authorized by G. S. 153A-123. <br />SECTION IV. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any provision of this Ordinance or its application to any <br />person or circumstances is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect <br />other provisions or applications of the Ordinance which can be given effect <br />without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions <br />of this Ordinance are declared to be severable. <br />SECTION V. EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />This Ordinance shall become effective upon its adoption. <br />-4- <br />
