Buchanan, Grants Administrator; Hal Mason of <br />Williams & Works and Hal Siler of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared <br />before the Board to make a report of the Site Selection and Study <br />Committee, which is conducting a feasibility study for an industrial <br />park(s) in Lee County. In presenting the report on the suggested indus- <br />trial park site, the method used in the selection was covered in three <br />parts as follows: Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, the introductory and background <br />information of the feasibility study; Mr. Hal Mason covered the site <br />selection processes, followed by Hal Siler explaining the operation and <br />functions of the site selection committee, as well as the contractual <br />agreement with the property owners. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the County of Lee desires provision of adequate <br />employment opportunities for its citizens, continued economic <br />development, and location of industries in the most efficient <br />manner; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Industrial Park Feasibility Study <br />completed by the site selection and study committee-has <br />indentified the Womack property adjacent to the new GKN facility <br />as the most feasible for industrial park development and the <br />Stroupe property off U. S. #421 as best suited as an industrial <br />relocation site, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS: <br />That, the County Board of Commissioner concurs with the <br />findings of this study and directs the Committee to proceed <br />with the final phases of the project based on the Womack <br />property being developed as an industrial park. <br />Commissiorn r John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before <br />the Board with a report on the necessity to proceed with the application <br />procedure for filing for a grant with the Economic Development Administration _ <br />for $900,000 to assist in construction of a water line to the Osgood and <br />Colon communities and the new GKN facility. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the County of Lee desires provision of adequate <br />employment opportunities for its citizens, continued economic <br />development, and orderly growth and development; and <br />WHEREAS, the County has completed an Overall Economic <br />Development Program and Industrial Feasibility Study; and <br />WHEREAS, the Osgood and Colon communities and industrial <br />activities such as the new GKN facilities, Seimans Allis, and <br />future industries that will locate in the proposed industrial <br />park have a critical need for an adequate public water system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration makes public <br />works grants available under the provisions of the Public Works <br />and Economic Development Act of 1965; and <br />
