Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the Board
and discussed the flood damage resolution which had been drafted and proposed
for consideration by the County Commissioners. After discussion, it was
RESOLVED to hold a public hearing on the adoption of this resolution at 11:00
o'clock a. m., on Tuesday, September 5, 1978, in the Commissioners Room.
Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the public hearing be held at that
date and time and that due advertisement be made. Commissioner Franklin D.
Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that the Landfill Depart-
ment had decided to have the 12G Allis Chalmers front end loader repaired and the
costs would be charged against the appropriation for that department.
The need for a compactor was discussed and the Superintendent was
directed to prepare specifications for consideration by the Commissioners.
There was a discussion that the salary for one position in the Main-
tenance Department had been overlooked in preparing the budget. It was decided
to allow the Superintendent of that department to continue to fill that position and
a determination would be made towards the close of the fiscal year as to what funds
are necessary to make up any deficit which might result from such employment.
The County Attorney reviewed correspondence from TMA Corporation
concerning the re-appraisal contract. It was decided to defer consideration of
these matters until the full Board was present and to invite the Tax Supervisor
and representatives of the Company to be present.
Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, duly seconded
by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, it was RESOLVED to go into Executive
Session to consider matters pertaining to the purchase of land adjoining the San-
Lee Recreation and Educational Park. Following the Executive Session, the Board
resumed its meeting in public. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the
County adopt the revised map for reduced acreage around San-Lee Recreation and
Educational Park Lake, and that the County Attorney be authorized to offer up to
$1, 000. 00 per acre for the purchase of this property. Commissioner Gordon A.
Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
There being no further business to come before the session, it was
adjourned.
CLERK TO T
