BOOK 9 %07 <br />6. HALF STREET. A street whose centerline coincides with a subdivision <br />plat boundary, with one-half (1~) the street right-of-way width being <br />contained within the subdivision plat. Also, any existing street to <br />which the parcel of land to be subdivided abuts on only one (1) side. <br />7. LOT. A portion of a subdivision, or any other parcel of land, in- <br />tended as a unit for transfer of ownership or for development or both. <br />8. OFFICIAL MAPS OR PLANS. Any maps or plans officially adopted by <br />the county commission as a guide to the development of the county. <br />9. OPEN SPACE. An area (land and/or water) generally lacking in man- <br />made structures and reserved for enjoyment in its unaltered state. <br />10. PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT. The planned unit development is a per- <br />mitted use designed to provide for developments incorporating a <br />single type or variety of residential and related uses which are <br />planned and developed as a unit. Such development may consist of <br />individual lots or common building sites. Common land must be an <br />element of the plan related to effecting the long-term value of <br />the entire development. <br />11. PLAT. A map or plan of a parcel of land which is to be, or has <br />been, subdivided. <br />12. PRIVATE DRIVEWAY. A roadway serving two (2) or fewer lots, build- <br />ing sites or other divisions of land and not intended to be public <br />ingress or egress. <br />13. PUBLIC SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM. A system serving two (2) or more <br />dwelling units and approved by the Lee County Division of the <br />District Eealth Department and the North Carolina Department of <br />Natural and Economic Resources, Division of Environmental Management. <br />14. PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY. Any water supply furnishing potable water <br />to ten (10) or more residences or businesses, or combination of <br />residences or businesses. Approval by the Sanitary Engineering <br />Section, Division of Health Services, State Board of Health, <br />Department of Human Resources is required. <br />15. RECREATION AREA OR PARK. An area of land or combination of land <br />and water resources that is developed for active and/or passive <br />recreation pursuits with various mannade features that accommodate <br />such activities. <br />16. RESERVATION. A reservation of land does not involve any transfer <br />of property rights. It simply constitutes an obligation to keep <br />property free from developrent for a stated period of time. <br />17. SINGLE-TIER LOT. A lot which backs upon a limited access highway, <br />a railroad, a physical barrier, or another type of land use and to <br />which access from the rear is usually prohibited. <br />18. STREET. A dedicated and accepted public right-of-way for vehicular <br />traffic. The following classifications shall apply: <br />-7- <br />
