POOP 9 ncEc347 <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne brought up for discussion whether <br />or not the Board would consider the establishment of a service district for fire <br />protection in the Carolina Trace development area. The Board indicated it had <br />no objections to the establishment of such a service district. <br />The Clerk advised the Board that the holiday schedule established <br />by the personnel ordinance provided for County offices to be closed on December <br />25th and 26th and January 1 st. <br />Sheriff Harold Thomas appeared before the Board and congratulated <br />the new commissioners and pledged his cooperation to the Board in carrying out <br />the duties of his office. Sheriff Thomas advised the Board he would conduct an <br />inventory of the property and process in the Sheriff's.Department as of this date <br />and would file a copy with the Board. <br />The Chairman noted the report from the County Tax Collector had <br />been distributed to the Board. In connection with this report, the Board discussed <br />the legislative goal pertaining to tax stamps on vehicles. <br />Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Civil Preparedness Director, appeared <br />before the Board and reported that a three day Civil Preparedness exercise was <br />in process and he would be representing the County in the exercise. <br />There was no further business to come before the meeting and <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the meeting adjourn sine die. Comm- <br />issioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was adopted <br />unanimously.
