f. ~ <br />The Chairman brought up for consideration the appointment <br />of a Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee and asked the members to <br />be prepared to make such appointment at the next meeting of the Board. <br />The Chairman requested that the members of the Board contact <br />him concerning their preference as to supervision of County activities and de- <br />partments and he would announce his appointments at the next meeting of the <br />Board. <br />Mr. William H. Ray, Jr. , of Bankingport, Inc. , appeared <br />before the Board and gave a report on the bonds for public officials. The bonds <br />are as follows: <br />(a) Harold Thomas, Sheriff, Bond No. BND-193-85-05, <br />of Continental Insurance Co. , in the amount of $5, 000. 00; <br />(b) Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, Bond No. 8030884, <br />of Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland, in theamount <br />of $25, 000. 00; <br />(c) Pattie W. McGilvary, Register of Deeds, Bond No. <br />BND-192-05-56, of Fidelity and Casualty Company of New <br />York, in the amount of $10, 000. 00; <br />(d) Beatrice Fields, Finance Officer, Bond No. 7957298, <br />Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland, in the amount <br />of $50, 000. 00; <br />(e) Blanket bond on unspecified positions in amount of <br />$10,000.00. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the bond for the Tax <br />Collector be raised to $50, 000. 00 and the bond of the Register of Deeds be <br />increased to $20,000.00 and with those changes that the bonds be approved and <br />the original bonds be deposited in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the motion and upona vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman reported that an acknowledgement of the Board's <br />expression of sympathy had been received from the family of Mr. George Daniels, <br />a former employee. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne brought up for discussion the question <br />of whether or not Christmas baskets would be given to County employees. After <br />discussion, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the County distribute <br />baskets to County employees and on a basis. comparable to the program conducted <br />last year. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered the various workshops and conferences <br />which will be held during this month. <br />The Board noted that the Christmas Parade in the Town of Broadway <br />will be held tonight and that the members of the Board had been invited to participate. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne reported on a meeting of the Triangle <br />Housing Group and distributed to the members of the Board a brochure prepared <br />by the organization. <br />
