Amend CETA VI Budget to reflect $197,144. 00, revenue <br />from the Department of Labor - Manpower Funds and Expenditures of $197, 144. 00, <br />as follows: <br />I. <br />Salaries and Wages: <br />New Appropriation <br />$ 174, 379.00 <br />II. <br />FICA: <br />New Appropriation <br />10, 681.00 <br />III. <br />Hospital: <br />New Appropriation <br />5,326.00 <br />IV. <br />Workmens Compensation: <br />New Appropriation <br />1,535.00 <br />V. <br />Administrative Expense: <br />New Appropriation <br />1, 564.00 <br />VI. <br />Telephone: <br />New Appropriation <br />250.00 <br />VII. <br />Supplies: <br />New Appropriation <br />250.00 <br />VIII. <br />Emergency and Contingency: <br />New Appropriation <br />3,159.00 <br />$ 197, 144.00 <br />Commissioner Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a roll <br />call vote, Commissioners Funderburke, Nielsen, Rhyne, Wicker and Harmon <br />voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Mrs. Beatrice Fields appeared before the Board and reported <br />that Sheriff Harold Thomas had made appointments to his Department and that <br />all of the salaries and appointments are within the unexpended appropriation <br />for that department. <br />Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Director of Civil Preparedness, appeared <br />before the Board and requested that the Board take ads for the installation of a <br />warning system in the schools. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the <br />Board advertise for the bids of the installation of a warning system in the schools. <br />Commissioner Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Board next considered the request of Lee Brick & Tile Company <br />for the County to forego the penalty on a tax discovery bill, which was assessed <br />because of a difference in the equipment and inventory reported to the County and to <br />the State Department of Revenue. After discussion, Commissioner Rhyne moved <br />that the County waive the penalty. There was no second and the Chair ruled that <br />the motion died for the lack of a second. Commissioner Rhyne then moved that the <br />County defer action to the matter without prejudice to the rights of the taxpayer until <br />the next meeting of the Board when the Tax Supervisor and the officers of the <br />Company could be present. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that Mr. John Pegram be <br />appointed to the CETA Board. Commissioner Rhyne seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Chairman Harmon suggested that Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />be appointed to fill the vacancy on the County Parks and Recreation Commission. <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne moved that Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker be <br />appointed to the Lee County Parks and Recreation Commission, to fill the vacancy <br />created by the expiration of Mr. Cooper's term on the Board of Commissioners. <br />Commissioner Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a motion it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />(1 <br />
