Letter To: Lee County.Dmmissioners
Sheet No: 4
Date: December 11, 1978
U) AMI
4. A Board of Directors will be established
with representation from the community, medical staff,
and AMI. In order to accomplish this, it is anticipated
that AMI will form a new, wholly-owned subsidiary to
build, own and operate the new hospital and to lease the
existing hospital.
5. There will be no reduction of services in
connection with AMI's operation of the existing hospital
facility or at the new hospital, as compared to the
services currently available at the existing hospital.
AMI or its subsidiary will provide medical care to indigent
patients based on a mutually acceptable arrangement with
Lee County.
6. The County will assume and satisfy all liabili-
ties of the existing hospital, as of the date of the
commencement of the lease, with exception of Hill-Burton
funds, which will become the responsibility of AMI.
7. In keeping with AMI's commitment to further the
quality of health care, AMI would establish an annual
$10,000 scholarship fund in the name of the hospital for
pursuit of graduate education in medicine for a minimum
period of 10 years. This annual award would be determined
by a scholarship committee of the Hospital's Board of
Directors and would be available to qualified students
from Lee County.
lfiIIF`{ - -rT .
