9 348 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, December 18, 1978 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, convened in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock p. M., <br />on Monday, December 18, 1978. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. <br />Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Dewey Shaver, Pastor of <br />Flat Springs Baptist Church. <br />The minutes of the December 4th, 1978, meeting, were approved <br />upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, duly seconded by Commissioner Lila P. <br />Nielsen, which motion was duly adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker presented a petition requesting <br />that Secondary Road No. 1203, known as "McCormick Drive", be approved for <br />paving. After discussion, Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption of the follow- <br />ing resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee, has investigated the condition of the <br />above described road, which is now a part of the system of <br />roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and <br />which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the <br />services rendered by said road and the traffic demands <br />of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be <br />improved in order to better serve the interests of the <br />people of this County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the <br />Board of County Commissioners hereby approve and <br />request that the State Highway Commission make the follow- <br />ing improvements in the above described road: Paved. <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker presented a petition requesting <br />that the road known as "Dutchess Trail", which leads off of Secondary Road <br />1303, near Tramway, be added to the State System. After discussion, Comm- <br />issioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />
