BK:00026 PG:0350 LEE COUNTY Coi»rr�1 tted Today for o Better Torn orrow SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS McSWA1N EXTENSION EDUCATION 8 AGRICULTURAL CENTER 2420 TRAMWAY ROAD SAN FORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 FEBRUARY 6, 201 4 The special called meeting of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 5 p.m., at the McSwain Extension Education & Agricultural Center, 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present were Amy M. Dalrymple, Charles T_ Parks, Robert T. Reives, and Kirk ID. Smith_ Commissioners Dr. Ricky �. Frazier, Dr. Andre Knecht, and James K. Womack were absent. Staff in attendance included County Manager John Crumpton, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter, Legal Support Kerry Schmid, and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. Chairman Parks called the meeting to order_ County Manager John Crumpton stated that bids were received on January 31 , 2014 for the Clyde Rhyne Drive roadway extension project at the Lee County Industrial Park. The following four (4) bids were received: Fred Smith Company, Raleigh $1,041,701 _00 Sanford Contractors, Inc., Sanford 76,655.43 S.T. Wooten Corporation, Sanford 1,158,621.55 Triangle Grading 8. Paving, Burlington 1,322,269.50 All bids have been reviewed by The Wooten Company and in a letter to the County Manager, it was recommended the bid be awarded to the low bidder, FS( 11, LLC d /b /a Fred Smith Company of Raleigh, North Carolina. It was noted the low bidder is properly licensed to perform the work based on the license information received from the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors' web site and is preq ualified with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to perform the type work specified in the project. Fred Smith Company is a qualified and responsible contractor_ Mr. Crumpton stated the bid is also within the budget parameters of the project_ If approved, the award will be contingent upon concurrence of award by the US Department of Commerce Economic development Administration (ESA)_ Funds for the project are included in the capital project for this contract. After discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to award the Clyde Rhyne Drive roadway extension paving contract to the low bidder, FSC 11, LLC d /b /a Fred Smith Company of Raleigh, North Carolina, in the amount of $1,04'1,70'1.00 contingent upon the concurrence of the award by the US Department of Commerce Economic development Administration.
