There were a few things commented on at the meeting which really disturbed me. One of the County Commissioners Mr. Womack gave some misleading information. Our agency had a clean audit this year which was sent to your office in December. In case you did not receive our audit I am sending another copy. In our forty-eight years of existence we have had two audits findings that had any issue. I'm not sure what he was alluding to that the federal government found a number of issues. It is disheartening to work so hard and have someone who really doesn't know that much about you to give the public that type of information. We have been in existence for forty -eight year and have been in Lee County since the mid seventies. We are not a fly by night agency without a track record. We have been there longer than a lot of non - profits in the county. I'm not sure where he gets information that officers spent $20,000 for travel. We have 170 employees and we have to provide training in order to be effective in our jobs. Duplication of services may be other agencies doing what we have been doing for over forty years, providing case management to get people out of poverty. Attached is a copy of our 2012 -13 Annual Report for your record. The reason for me not attending the two meetings is the following: The first meeting I had the flu and learned of the meeting when I was sick. The second meeting the weather was reported to be bad which we had snow in Johnston County and I felt traveling to Lee County would have been dangerous at the time.
