Ms. Potts stated that according to federal <br />Medicaid policy, each round trip has to be evaluated and the method of transportation selected is based <br />on the least expensive mode available and the determination that the type transportation is appropriate. <br />If a client requires a lift van, only vendors with that capability will be considered. Price information was <br />provided by each of the two vendors and services they can provide. The Social Services Board <br />approved the contracts during a recent meeting. The two vendors submitting required information is <br />COLTS Transportation and Fleming Taxi. The following vendor requirements must be met before being <br />considered: <br />• Carry sufficient insurance on all vehicles, <br />• Ensure all drivers are properly licensed, <br />• Ensure all vehicles used to transport clients have valid State registration, <br />• Participate in random drug and alcohol testing program on drivers, <br />• Perform criminal background checks on all drivers, and <br />• Perform driving record checks. <br />After discussion, Commissioner Smith moved to approve contracts from COLTS Transportation and <br />Fleming Taxi for non - emergency Medicaid transportation services for Social Services, copies of which <br />are attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Knecht, Parks, Reives, Smith, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Frazier <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered bids for the FCC compliant UHF digital trunking countywide system. <br />Emergency Services Director Shane Seagroves stated a need had been identified for additional <br />communication capabilities in the County, especially since the tornado that hit Lee County. The added <br />function of a digital trunking radio system will meet those needs. Over the last five years the aging <br />wideband radio system has been replaced with the latest communication equipment. This project was <br />implemented during the county's transition to the State's Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency <br />Responders (VIPER) antenna site at the Emergency Services Training Center on Airport Road.
