There were a total of four (4) bids received for the project. <br />The apparent Low Bidder is FSC II, LLC d/b /a Fred Smith Company of Raleigh, NC with a <br />bid of $1,041,701.00. <br />The Low Bidder is properly licensed to perform the work based on the license information <br />obtained from the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors' web site and is prequalified <br />with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to perform they type of work specified <br />in the project. We are satisfied that Fred Smith Company is a qualified and responsible <br />contractor. <br />It is our understanding that the project budget is sufficient to cover the above construction <br />cost. Based on the project being within budget, we recommend that the County accept the bid <br />and award the Contract for the construction of the project to Fred Smith Company. The award <br />must be made contingent upon the concurrence of award by US Department of Commerce <br />Economic Development Administration (EDA). Please note that the project must be awarded <br />on or before April 1, 2014, without requesting an extension of the bid holding period from the <br />low bidder. <br />Enclosed also for your use are four (4) copies of the Notice of Award. Upon awarding the <br />contract, please execute this notice so that we may forward it along with the remaining <br />Contract Documents to the Contractor.
