009
Gaynell Lee
To: Gaynell Lee
Subject: FW: Resignation
From: Matt Sakurada < msakuradana empowernc.com
Date: Mon, Jan 6, 2014 at 3:32 PM
Subject: Resignation
To: April Montgomery < april(creapvalue.com >, Susan Condlin < susan condlin(u,ncsu.edu
After several weeks of consideration, I resign from the Lee County Environmental Review and Advisory
Committee ( "ERAC "). Simply put, ERAC is not what I expected it to be.
I thought it would:
1. Have more public input, except for one meeting no one from the public or the press has attended.
2. Have more importance in the County, but I can't even find anything about it while searching the Lee
County website.
3. Have more impact in more county environmental issues, but it is mostly about fracking and the State seems
to have most of the permitting and approval power.
4. Have a more balanced approach to environmental issues, but find the economic priorities try to overwhelm
other issues.
5. Have more county support, but the effort is expected to come from a volunteer board and limited staff time.
I am confused and frustrated by being either too early or too late for maximum impact.
I have limited time and energy to support local community efforts, and I want to do other things. I can continue
to express individual opinions just as effectively as serving on the ERAC. Best of luck in 2014.
Note new mailing address
Matt Sakurada
221 N.
