015 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Lee County <br />City of Sanford <br />Town of Broadway <br />Lee County Economic Development Corporation <br />Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce <br />Economic Development Steering Committee <br />From: Economic Development Task Force <br />Date: April 17, 2013 <br />Re: ACTION NEEDED: All Boards to pass by supermajority the attached <br />Memorandum of Understanding between the County of Lee, the City of Sanford, the <br />Town of Broadway, the Lee County Economic Development Corporation, the <br />Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Economic Development Steering <br />Committee. <br />A Task Force made up of the Lee County Commission Chair, Mayor of Sanford, Mayor of <br />Broadway, President of Central Carolina Community College, two members of the EDC <br />Board, two members of the Chamber Board, and additional public and private sector <br />representatives, has been meeting since early February 2013 to develop a new <br />organization and pathway for economic development. Following the Lee County <br />Commissioners Economic Development Summit, this Task Force met several more times <br />to discuss a set of recommendations to move forward. <br />Task Force Members: <br />Alan Holt <br />Brad Simpson <br />Bud Marchant <br />Charlie Parks <br />Charlie Welborn <br />Donnie Oldham <br />Kirk Bradley <br />Donald Andrews <br />Cornelia Olive <br />The group envisions a completion of the planning process to get an actionable work plan <br />and private sector fundraising effort that will result in a new public - private economic <br />development organization. <br />Below are the recommendations of the Task Force for approval by supermajority of the <br />County, City, Town, EDC, and Chamber. <br />
