<br />that needs to be looked at), BRE (Business Retention Expansion, and economic gardening.
<br />Specific Projects referenced included construction of spec buildings, water /sewer
<br />expansion, study of Civic Center, small business incubator, small convention center hotel, and
<br />the need for apprenticeship programs.
<br />Measurements referenced included income (per capita), tax rates, commute time,
<br />wages, unemployment rate, new housing statistics, median home value, cost of living index,
<br />utility rates, level of unemployment, unemployment filings (through ESC), announcement of
<br />business closures and lay -offs, objective report of permits issued, and a monthly list (by the top
<br />10 companies) of their monthly employment.
<br />Public Investments referenced included the County CIP, bonds recently passed by the
<br />City, new road at Industrial Park, fire department issues (more stations needed in the City),
<br />and more commercial investment in Broadway area and /or south of Sanford.
