COUNTY <br />{ <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />ELECTED OFFICIAL'S WORK SESSION <br />WITH THE <br />LEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br />SANFORD CITY COUNCIL, AND BROADWAY TOWN COMMISSIONERS <br />SEPTEMBER 26, 2013 <br />The Elected Official's Work Session sponsored by the Lee County Economic <br />Development Corporation, for elected officials for the Lee County Board of Commissioners, <br />Sanford City Council, and Broadway Town Commissioners, convened at 9 a.m. in the Gordon <br />Wicker Conference Room, Lee County Government Center, First Floor, 106 Hillcrest Drive, <br />Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. The following participated in the work session: <br />Crystal Morphis, Interim Lee County Economic Development Director <br />Amy Dalrymple, Lee County Commissioner <br />Kirk Smith, Lee County Commissioner <br />Jim Womack, Lee County Commissioner <br />Poly Cohen, Sanford City Council <br />Donald Andrews, Mayor, Town of Broadway <br />Lynn Green, Broadway Town Commissioner <br />Crystal Morphis called the work session to order and outlined the agenda which <br />included the following: <br />Economic Development Goals <br />Role of New Organization <br />Specific Projects — Program of Work Items <br />Measurements — How to Measure Success of Program <br />Public Investments <br />Ms. Morphis stated a steering committee of approximately twenty individuals have been <br />meeting since June; gathering information across the county, conducting surveys, and holding <br />planning sessions with EDC and the Chamber. A draft of the new organization will be <br />presented to the steering committee on Thursday, October 3rd. A fund raising assessment will <br />begin in October and run through December. It is anticipated that 50% of funding for the new <br />organization will come from the private sector. <br />Goals referenced included job growth, relocating employees (residential growth), <br />median household needs to be increased, Chamber functions remain on focus, small business <br />
