PG: 0001 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />JOINT MEETING BETWEEN THE <br />LEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br />SANFORD CITY COUNCIL, AND THE TOWN OF BROADWAY COMMISSIONERS <br />McSWAIN EXTENSION EDUCATION & AGRICULTURE CENTER <br />2420 TRAMWAY ROAD <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />SEPTEMBER 18, 2013 <br />The quarterly joint meeting of the Lee County Board of Commissioners, Lee County <br />Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Sanford City Council, and Broadway Town <br />Commissioners, convened at 10 a.m. at the McSwain Extension Education & Agriculture <br />Center, 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Commissioners present <br />Charles T. Parks, Kirk D. Smith, and James K. Womack. Staff in attendance included County <br />Manager John Crumpton and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. <br />Crystal Morphis, Interim Economic Development Director welcomed everyone. Ms. <br />Morphis turned the meeting over to Mr. Mike Chadsey from the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. <br />Mr. Chadsey discussed some of the issues Ohio faced when they began horizontal drilling and <br />hydraulic fracturing. He stressed the importance of training such as welding, which is a highly <br />paid job in this industry and the need for truck drivers. It was stated that welders could make <br />as much as six figures for working six to nine months a year.
