I. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: October 7, 2013 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Award and <br />Memorandum of Agreement for FY 2013 <br />DEPARTMENT Lee County Office of Emergency Services <br />CONTACT PERSON Shane Seagroves, 919.718.4670 <br />REQUEST Authorize the acceptance of EMPG Grant Award and Memorandum <br />of Agreement; authorize the Finance Director and Emergency Services Director to sign required <br />documents. <br />SUMMARY The State provides grants to local governments to help support local <br />emergency management programs. Counties with less than a population of 200,000 are eligible <br />for a fifty (50) percent matching cost grant based on certain emergency management functions. <br />The grants are awarded each year and may vary depending on the federal funding available. <br />BUDGET IMPACT None — 50% match requirement is provided by in -kind contributions <br />ATTACHMENT(S) EMPG Grant Award and Memorandum of Agreement <br />PUBLIC HEARING No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION EMPG application is approved annually by the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners; most recently approved on March 19, 2013. <br />RECOMMENDATION Authorize the acceptance of EMPG Grant Award and Memorandum <br />of Agreement. <br />
